Christian Education

Growing in Faith Together

Faith grows through Scripture, conversation, questions, and learning together. Christian Education at Zion creates opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds to explore what we believe and what faith means for everyday life.

Learning at Zion

There’s Always More to Discover

Christian education isn't simply about knowing more facts about the Bible. It gives us room to encounter Scripture, ask difficult questions, hear perspectives different from our own, and consider how the Christian faith speaks to the lives we actually live.

Scripture & Conversation

Bible study at Zion combines Scripture with open conversation. Questions are welcome. Participants learn from the biblical text, from study resources, and from one another.

Faith & Everyday Life

Our studies often move beyond simply asking what a passage says. We also ask what it means for relationships, discipleship, community, service, and life in today's world.

Learning Together

You don't need to be a Bible expert to participate. Christian education works best when people bring their experiences, curiosity, questions, and willingness to listen to one another.

Studies We've Shared

More Than a Lesson and a Worksheet

Some studies become especially meaningful because they give us a different way to enter the biblical story. Here are two examples of the kinds of learning Zion has shared.

Bible Study Series

The Chosen

Zion has used The Chosen as the starting point for an extended exploration of the life and ministry of Jesus and the people who encountered him.

Rather than simply watching the episodes, each session combines the story on screen with Scripture, background information, discussion, and questions about faith and discipleship.

Study guides have been developed for every episode through Season 5 and are available through Zion's Faith & Learning resources.

Exploring Scripture

Women of the Bible

The women found throughout Scripture include familiar figures as well as people whose stories are easily overlooked. This study explores their lives, their circumstances, and the part they played in the biblical story.

The series provides another way to look closely at Scripture and discover people and details we may have passed over in previous readings.

The complete video series is available online through Zion's Faith & Learning resources.

Children & Faith

Faith Formation Begins Early

Children are part of the worshiping life of Zion, and learning about faith doesn't have to be separated from worship.

Children's Church gives younger children an optional opportunity for age-appropriate Bible stories, activities, crafts, and prayer during part of the Sunday service. Children return to worship for Holy Communion and are always welcome to remain with their families throughout the entire service.

Beyond Our Walls

Sharing What We Learn

Christian education doesn't have to stop at the doors of one congregation. Zion has shared both people and educational resources with neighboring churches, helping make studies and materials available beyond our own congregation.

When a study, resource, or idea can help another congregation explore Scripture and grow in faith, we're glad to share it. Christian education is richer when churches learn with—and from—one another.

Bring Your Questions

You don't need to know all the answers before joining a Bible study. That's rather the point. Come with your questions, your experiences, and your curiosity, and explore faith alongside others doing the same.
