The first meeting of Zion brethren was on August 29, 1860 with a dozen courageous Glen Rock citizens in attendance. It is now the year 2020; and as we celebrate our 160th anniversary, we are once again called upon to be bold like our twelve founders.
Lutheran pastors are retiring at a faster rate than those being ordained, thus causing a shortage. Congregations have temporary pastors with no replacement in sight. This coupled with shrinking budgets and membership requires us to adopt new ways of thinking. Where do we go from here? Is a cooperative ministry the answer?
All congregational members are invited to attend a special presentation on exploring these questions and future options for Zion.
We will be meeting in Zion's Upstairs Fellowship Area.
Pastors Doug DeStephano of Christ Lutheran Loganville, George Schneider of St. John Lutheran New Freedom and Katie Brantner of St. Paul Lutheran-Hametown will lead us in a discussion about our vision and future ministry.
